20 Ft Sailboats Can I Use An Outboard On A 20,000 Lb Sailboat?

Can I use an outboard on a 20,000 lb sailboat? - 20 ft sailboats

I know it's a little crazy, but diesel on board the boat in neutral. The sailboat of 38 feet and 20,000 pounds. Can I use an outboard motor on his back, until you get the engine can be rebuilt, too? How big an outboard motor should I use?

25 hp outboard motor is more than sufficient as an assistant. Get in with a minimum of 20inch shaft and mounted on a retractable, locking front and control the rudder.

Good luck

Yes, you can use an outboard motor to move the boat. Most sailboats have displacement hulls and outboard motors below CV will be enough for motorboats. Be sure to get a long shaft of the motor. 25HP more than adequate and could be by with a smaller engine if you are using the current input / output on your schedule. We have a sailboat in 24 'when 9.9 was my Honda into the shop, we had no problems with pushing Honda 2hp long shaft boat with 3 nodes.

There are a few things such as whether more aggressive and Kort nozzle designed to increase thrust at low speed.

many of the great vessels are equipped with diesel engines at HP.

Hope this helps

It's would move a little more than 1 15HP, but as a necessity to control U-2 nodes and when the head wind or current will have little to none.

Wow. Go to most outboard motors, that is an awfully big load and keep it for the drive can.
